Black Friday

Cyber Monday

It's hard to resist a good deal right after Thanksgiving, and there are plenty of deals to be found on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. If the retail frenzy has left you feeling about as gluttonous as that extra piece of pie after Thanksgiving dinner (we'll even admit to having pie for breakfast the next morning, too), Giving Tuesday may be your perfect cure. Tuesday is the day to feel good about doing a good dead and focus on bigger causes this Holiday season.

International Credit Union Day: The Authentic Difference

Posted by Gabby Boyce on Oct 10, 2016 9:00:00 AM

For more than 160 years, credit unions have put people before profit.

In the 1850s, hard times hit Germany, and people turned to each other for help. They removed small savings from under mattresses and started making reasonably priced loans to one another. These early credit unions were the model for all the credit unions that followed: not-for-profit, democratically controlled and community oriented. The principles that guided them then, guide credit unions today.

International Credit Union Day Celebrates, The Authentic Difference

Posted by Gabby Boyce on Oct 3, 2016 9:00:00 AM

On October 20, 2016, credit unions around the world will celebrate International Credit Union Day (ICU Day).

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives, offering the same services as other financial institutions, but with a people-first philosophy. Since 1948, on the third Thursday of every October, credit unions have celebrated the principles that make credit unions the best financial partners of people all over the world.  “The authentic difference,” this year’s ICU Day theme, zeroes in on what makes credit unions different from banks, fintech startups and other financial institutions—our principles.

A Farewell Letter from Outgoing CEO, Patrick Basler

Posted by Gabby Boyce on Dec 14, 2015 8:46:05 AM

President’s Message

As I pen this letter, it is with both sadness and excitement that I will be leaving FFCU. Effective Monday, Dec 24th, Michael Abraham, FFCU’s current Vice President of Operations will become President/Chief Executive Officer of First Financial Credit Union.

The sadness of this announcement stems from the great organization I will be leaving.  When I look back to when I started here eight years ago, there have been an abundance of changes and transformations. Together, we’ve taken a small, one-office Credit Union that was originally chartered to serve the employees of AT&T Teletype, and have transformed FFCU into a financially strong, member-centric organization that serves multiple communities with multiple locations. None of this would have been accomplished without a great staff and loyal members. I am proud that our organization is continually looking for ways to add value to our members, whether it’s better rates, or staying on the front edge of new product and service offerings. Our Credit Union is committed to our purpose: helping members achieve financial success.

Patrick Basler steps down as CEO to take on new role with the League Service Corporation

Chicago, Ill: This week, First Financial Credit Union’s Board of Directors announced Michael Abraham as the next Chief Executive Officer, effective Dec. 24, 2015. Current CEO, Patrick Basler will be stepping down from his role after eight years to take on his new position as Chief Strategy Officer with the League Service Corporation (LSC) based in Naperville, IL. LSC helps Credit Unions compete in the financial services marketplace by developing innovative products to facilitate Credit Union growth.

“I’m truly grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead First Financial Credit Union. We’ve spent a lot of time and resources investing in our membership over the last few years, and to be able to build on that investment as CEO of the Credit Union is a great honor,” Abraham said.

Abraham has worked for First Financial Credit Union for two years. He began his career with the Credit Union as the Lending Manager and quickly moved up to be the Vice President of Operations in January 2015. Abraham’s previous experience includes a variety of financial industry managerial roles at companies including TMX Finance and Citigroup. These roles along with his tenure at First Financial combine to make him the premier candidate for the CEO position at First Financial Credit Union.

A letter from the CEO - FFCUs commitment to exceptional service

Posted by Gabby Boyce on Nov 24, 2015 1:01:22 PM

Our credit union has come a long way over the past 79 years, and our staff and Board of Directors are especially proud of the wide array of products and services available to our Members.  While we cannot compete with the large mega-banks in the number of branch offices, where we can compete, and be even better, is in the convenience in our product delivery and personalization of our service.  We regularly rate very high in member satisfaction surveys, and credit unions in general rate more favorably than banks in consumer satisfaction.
